Answers to common questions, troubleshooting tips, and how to get in touch.
No account is required to start logging workouts. All your workout data is stored locally on your device. If you purchase Plus or Pro, you'll be asked to sign in with Google — this keeps your purchase status safe across reinstalls and device changes. Your training data stays on your device and never leaves it.
From the home screen, tap "Start Workout" to begin a blank session. Add exercises by tapping "Add Exercise" and searching the library. For each exercise, tap the + button to add a set, enter your reps and weight, then mark it complete. When you're done, tap "Finish Workout" to save the session to your history.
A template is a saved workout layout — a named list of exercises you do together, like "Push Day" or "Upper Body". A plan is a weekly schedule that assigns templates to specific days of the week. Templates and plans both require Plus. Without a plan, you can still use templates to quickly start any saved workout.
Go to Settings and find the Workout Reminder option. Set the time you'd like to be reminded each day. If you have an active weekly plan, the notification will include today's scheduled workout name. You'll need to grant notification permissions when first prompted.
Yes. Open History, find the session you want to edit, and tap into it. From the session detail view you can add or remove sets, update weights and reps, and edit notes. Changes are saved immediately.
Weight input defaults to kg. You can switch between kg and lbs in Settings → Units. The setting applies globally across all exercises and history views.
After you log a set, a rest timer appears at the bottom of the screen. The default rest period is 90 seconds but you can adjust it per exercise or globally in Settings. When the timer reaches zero you'll get a vibration and notification so you know it's time to start the next set — even if the app is in the background.
Yes. In the Exercise Library screen, tap the + button and select "Create Custom Exercise". Give it a name, choose the primary muscle group and equipment type. Your custom exercise will appear alongside the built-in library and can be used in any workout or template.
Go to the Plans screen and tap "New Template". Give the template a name, then add exercises from the library. You can set a target number of sets for each exercise — these act as defaults when you start the template as a live workout. Save the template and it's ready to use.
From the Plans screen, tap "Set Up Weekly Plan". You'll see a Monday–Sunday schedule. Tap any day to assign a template to it, or leave it as "Rest". Once saved, your active plan appears on the home screen with today's workout shown automatically.
Yes, always. Your plan is a suggestion. From the home screen you can tap "Start a different workout instead" to ignore the plan and start any template or a blank session. The plan updates the next day as normal.
Full workout history, progress charts, and personal record timelines are Plus features. Free users can still see their last 5 sessions as a basic log. To unlock full history and progress tracking, upgrade to Plus (one-time purchase — no subscription).
Volume = sets × reps × weight for each exercise, summed for the session. The progress chart shows total weekly volume over time — the most reliable indicator of progressive overload. Bodyweight exercises contribute sets × reps with weight = 0 (or your bodyweight if you've set it in your profile).
A PR is recorded when you log the heaviest single set for an exercise ever — weight × reps combined. If you bench press 80kg × 5 and you've never done that before, it's a PR. The app highlights it in real-time during the workout and saves a permanent PR log per exercise.
The AI Coach can generate a personalised weekly training programme based on your goal, available days, and equipment. After sessions it can provide a brief analysis of your performance. It can also suggest today's workout based on your recent training history and which muscle groups are most overdue. AI features require a Pro subscription.
The AI is designed for general training guidance only — it is not a substitute for a qualified personal trainer, physiotherapist, or doctor. If you have injuries, chronic conditions, or are returning from a long break, consult a professional before following any AI-generated programme. The AI is explicitly constrained to programming guidance and cannot provide medical, clinical, or dietary advice.
The AI receives anonymised training statistics — workout frequency, volume trends, muscle group distribution, and general exercise patterns. Your personal details (name, email) are never shared with the AI. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what is and isn't shared.
Uninstalling will delete your local workout data. Your purchase status is linked to your Google Play account and can be restored on reinstall. We recommend using the data export feature (Plus/Pro) before uninstalling if you want to preserve your full training history.
Go to Settings → Store and tap "Restore Purchases". Make sure you're signed in with the same Google account used for the original purchase. The restore takes a few seconds and your tier updates automatically.
For local data: uninstall the app. For any cloud data associated with your account: go to Settings → Account and use the Delete Account option, or email us at [email protected] and we will delete all associated data within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Pro subscriptions are managed through Google Play. Open the Google Play app → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → find SteadyForge Pro and tap Cancel. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
